The Botanic Garden at Wollaton is already looking very colourful. Open Sundays 2-4pm (not 22nd June) and Wed/Thu/Fri am if the gate is open.
This hardy geranium is a very pretty woodland perennial named after the Ness Botanic Gardens near Chester, nothing to do with Loch Ness or monsters. Hardy geranium are spreading plants that can grow up to 45cm. Its best attribute is that it tolerates dry shade.
Cultivation: remove dead flowers and all leaves (Hampton Hack) to stimulate a flush of new growth in late summer. Propagate by division or by basal cuttings in early spring.
