Sep 10th 2021- ADAM PASCO "Create A Garden For All Seasons"

Zoom meeting. Members of Nottingham HPS please book for this talk as we are offering spare places to other HPS members and friends.

Would you like to look out onto a beautiful garden all-year-round filled with some of the best performing flowers, hardy perennials, bulbs, shrubs, ornamental tree and colourful seasonal plants available? In this illustrated talk Adam provides planting suggestions for long-lasting colour combinations that you can enjoy in different seasons. Adam includes practical planning and design tips to help you plant a garden that provides colour and interest throughout the year. As well as ‘tried and tested’ favourites that are guaranteed to perform year after year he also introduces some unusual varieties, and highlights flowers and plants brand new to the market. Plants are recommended for different soils, sites and situations, helping fill every corner of the garden and patio with colour. With photographs and videos taken in Adam’s home garden in Peterborough and at some of the best gardens around the country, this talk will feature plants that provide a long period of colour and continuity through the year. Emphasis will also be given to planting combinations and plants that provide continuity of colour and more than one season of interest. From hardy perennials to climbers, roses to seasonal bulbs, grasses to succulents, and even easy plants to raise from seed, Adam’s seasonal selection is sure to inspire.

Oct 8th 2021 - Razvan Chisu
"Walking on flowers, spring in the Peloponnese"

We will be back at St Paul's and Razvan will bring plants for sale.

Razvan is a garden designer, editor of the Saxifrage Magazine (Saxifrage Society) and writes for various other gardening magazines. He also offers horticultural consultancy and has been giving talks to gardening groups and conferences for the past 5 years.

Razvan was fortunate to grow up in Transylvania in a town surrounded by vast woodlands and species-rich wildlife meadows, a fact that has influenced the way he designs and maintains gardens. His interest extends to looking for plants in the wild and leading wildlife tours where he shares his interest and knowledge of botany. So far, he has organised and led tours to Transylvania, Spain, Greece and Sweden.

Walking on flowers, spring in the Peloponnese - this beautiful corner of the world is not only rich in autumn bulbs, but also in spring flowers. Be prepared to be amazed by carpets of annuals and bulbs, sometimes as far as the eye can see in the olive orchards that adorn many of the hills and mountains in the area. Orchids, especially bee-orchids come in great numbers and in a dizzying diversity.
