Set around a tranquil pool, the Monet style landscape has a wealth of moisture loving plants, including iris, and candelabra primulas. Drier areas feature unusual perennials, rarer trees and shrubs. Woodland paths meander through shade and bog plantings, along boarded walks, across wild natural areas with views over the pool to the cottage gardens. The garden is noted for its wildlife and orchids may be in flower at the time of our visit. Unusual plants available at the adjacent nursery. Some gravel paths.

The Rose Garden, Stoke Lane Allotments, Gedling, Nottingham NG4 2QS
There is a walk of approximately 300 yds from the gate to the Rose Garden and back, wear sensible footwear and bring waterproofs.
We are invited to visit the Rose Garden, a community garden within the Stoke Lane Allotments site, the garden has been managed by Jed & Barbara Riley since 2013. Originally planted by a former allotmenteer on two plots with a wide variety of roses, around 90 bushes. A great many of the heavily scented old roses will be at their peak flowering period at the time of our visit alongside repeat flowering roses such as modern shrub roses, hybrid teas and hybrid musks. A feast for the eyes and senses.
